I'm a wee bit confused to what low impact means, I've always thought of it as not hurting your self when falling off. Where as high impact is bloody painful.

Yet in your bouldering tome you discuss low impact from an ethical stance (in one part you even say leave your blow tourches at home for gods sake!) So what is "low impact" and how does a guide help?
