Lakes in april?
February 15, 2014, 10:58:07 am
Hiya guys,

Looking at going on a group bouldering trip to the lakes in april, since our font one had to be pulled. Apart from the obvious places like St Bees and Carrock, where are good places to go? Need a grade range of about 4-7c.

We're thinking of staying in the youth hostel at buttermere.

Thanks!

Dave

If we get a dry spring like last year, all the South Lakes Limestone (Woodwell, Fairy steps etc) will be in fine condition. Nearer to Buttermere, Gillercombe boulders are ace with a broad grade spread, well worth the steep approach.

Eskdale Fisherground could be a good place for a group, wide range of grades you'll be able to spread out.Access fairly simple and vegetation shouldn't be too bad in April.

Thanks for replies folks!

We managed to snag a hostel in hawkshead, so hopefully can get to most of these places without too much trouble.
