I thought it was excellent and very down to earth compared to his usual...

It's an interesting read about how it feels to an "outsider", though of course  not every English person's experience of living in North Wales is so negative.

Good luck to him in his new life - certainly looks like he's got a nice venue sorted out there.

Funny how he just boulders nowdays - I suppose he's had enough trad-horror moments to last a lifetime.

Yeah, can't exactly picture him as a beanie and bucket boulderer. I think he makes quite a few salient points- I can see where he is coming from and I'm native to these parts. I'm surprised he doesn't mention Nationalists defacing the landscape (i.e. daubing the roadside face and other areas close to the road- that was a fucking disgrace).

I haven't got time to go through all the points that John raised, but I think he should recognise that his 'Artistic Wildman' persona would struggle to fit in anywhere, except perhaps in an artists enclave or on a commune. I like John, but he does talk an awful lot of shite sometimes.

Just a couple of points:

Kids have a huge capacity for learning languages, and there are plenty of people (both local and incomers) who have a very positive view of the Welsh language (myself included).

As for the people of Nant Peris - I know some really sound folk who live there or grew up there. John should realise that he is generalising on account of one or two individuals, with whom he clashed.

On the issue of sheep - yes, there are too many on the hills of Snowdonia.
