Or perhaps move it to uktimelapses.com

They were great timelapses, but I get the impression you spent more time doing them than you did climbing! Having just been in Hatun Machay I can honestly say it's much cooler than the video made it look. The timelapses were really nice though. I wish I'd shot some!

fair point dude, prob not enough climbing in the video in all honesty, but most of the time I found myself forgetting to film things and just climbing! (the timelapse's were dedicated evenings after climbing to play with the camera hence the gratuitous use of them!!)

your right hatun is very, very cool and I didn't do it justice at all, but in my defence when we were there a few morons had bouldered on some of the caves that house 8-10k year old archaeology!

.....suffice to say the locals were up in arms and as the festival was on in a few days time, they banned bouldering to keep the peace just as we rocked up......typical!  (then the weather crapped out for 5 days and I got ill so came down)

Pretty sure now with low profile, and sensible selection of problems bouldering is ok as long as ppl are not idiots but it did cause some fairly bad feeling from what I heard?

anyway long story short, we spent a night there did the astro stuff and sacked it off for the cordillera blanca side of things as we didn't take harnesses and ropes up, but the sport routes looked cool and Ed Marin & co were up there bolting for the festival so heaps to go at now!

Apparently  the geological formations that give rise to Hatun can also be found elsewhere in the Cordillera Negra, so there are other similar areas that can be explored (Huayllay is one, but according to the locals there are a few more?)

Next time will post in the video section.....apologies!!

The routes I did there last year were all very good.

For all things climbing in Peru Topos Peru (although it doesn't cover everything at Hatun Machay as theres been so much development).
