what do you recon lads?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/3695111.stm

all we'd need is £6mil. I'll stump up a couple of ton......who's in for the remainding £5999800?

Market it at boulderers, flying low-cost to all the major venues - Paris (font), nice (ailfroide), Milan (cresiano), innsbruck (zillertal etc). Copies of OTE in the seat backs. hostesses in tight prana gear, duty free guidebooks. Rampage on the in-flight movie. Check-in staff who know what a bouldering mat looks like etc etc etc. We're sitting on a goldmine here.

$$$$$$

aye, i think the lack of airport at crosspool is the major stumbling block there. could fly to/from sheffield airport (remember that place?) though - Only 15mins on the A57 to bell hagg. is there an airport in north wales?

Not sure I like the
"It's a huge ego thing and it's a fun industry, but there's more money to be made emptying toilets on planes than setting up an airline."

bit! Aren't they building a new Sheffield Airport in Doncaster?

I was thinking more about maybe running a new airstrip down the middle of the Crosspool golfcourse and maybe a Ratho style outdoors indoors development encompassing Bell Hag plus a few shops, a few fast food outlets, a gym etc.

i think at one point theye were on about turning the old finningley RAF base (decomissioned as of about 1995) into an airport cos its massive and thus all the runways and hangars etc are already built.

"Robin Hood Doncaster-Sheffield International Airport" - i believe this is what you are referring to. Due to be open within the next two years i believe.

Sheff airport no longer operates cos the runway basically isn't big enough. oooopps

i'll chip in £20. so that's £5999780 left, right?

choppers n shit still fly out of there and small aircraft - but there just wasn't enough land for it to reach any kind of 'potenial'........ it's basically a business park now - or at least bits of it are.

makes you wonder why they decided to build an airport where there blatantly wasn't room for one. i mean fuck me i bet manchester's long stay carparks cover more area then sheff airport does.

A complete farce - I dread to think how much money that little lot wasted. It was good when it opened coz KLM used to fly do Amsterdam thus providing an international link, but that soon fell through.

I went to Belfast about six times from Sheffield Airport in my old Job. There was one tea shop that doubled as the obligatory WHSmiths, only it only sold about three titles.

The only problem was that the damn fools at Belfast City used to only hire me a Rover 25. What a SHIT car.
