Props to HOPE
April 23, 2012, 12:09:23 pm
Another fine lesson in positive reasons to buy British.

I somehow (no idea) cracked the flange (disc-side) on an old HOPE XC front hub - I did have a slight clanger while riding one-handed to the beach with my surfboard under one arm.

I emailed HOPE and asked "pretty please" is there anything you can do to sort me out? Lo and behold they have replaced the entire Hub body FOC and sent it back to the office today (6 day T/A)!!

I bought the hub c.2006 so in my opinion this represents pretty stellar customer service.

Smashing; cheered my right up after falling in the Leeds-L'Pool canal yesterday on a rainy bike ride....

BUY BRITISH!

(DISCLAIMER: I am in no way affiliated ith HOPE or any of their distributors/retailers. I just like shiny things)

I only wish that I could like the sound that their rear hubs make, but every time I think about a set of Hope Hoops this puts me right off:

You get used to it, substitutes quite well as a bell when free wheeling.

All my current and past bikes (road, commuting, MTB) have or had cheapo Shimano rear hubs that are nearly completely silent.

I've been conditioned to having a nearly silent bike when free-wheeling. Any Hope/Fulcrum/campag-style Clack-clack or Chris King/Trizoid-style whirrrrrr noises are usually a sign that something expensive is happening!
