Off to yellowstone national park
July 09, 2011, 11:08:36 pm
Going to visit this amazing place with my family beginning of August.

Flying to Las Vegas (leaving very quickly) and driving up through salt lake city to get to the park. Staying at places near Antelope canyon and Horseshoe bend. Although none of my family climb i'm not leaving my boots and harness at home! Never know, might find some friendly climbers who can give me a toprope :)

Anyway, just thought i'd ask if anyone had any bouldering insight or things they might reccomend? I'm sure there will be plenty of rock to play on where ever I go! Never been to America before, pretty psyched :bounce:

Leave Vegas quickly if it's not your thing, but head out to Red Rocks Canyon - pretty for the family and some good bouldering at Kraft Rocks. If you detour into Zion NP there are a few boulders about, and also in Little Cottonwood Canyon as well, near SLC, and there some near Odgen but not sure where. After that it depends what route you take. If you go via Idaho, there is some bouldering near Pocatello.

Thanks for the reply Chris. Yeah, will be leaving Las Vegas as soon as we touch down. We are spending a few days in Zion so i'll try and not be tempted by the massive crack lines! Staying a night in Ogden also so if I can get to the outskirts i'll try and seek out this bouldering. Apparently it's very good! Couldn't find where it is though and there's a lot of rock about. Will ask around when in town.

Pretty sure it's in both the Utah Boudering Guides; David Peggs and the newer fat one.

Did you try google?
