senna film
June 01, 2011, 10:44:01 pm
Anyone planning to see this?me and martin are going on saturday, tried get turner come but he's fucking around at some comp in manc instead.every clip I've seen looks imense.since the topgear special I've been itching for seeing it.still shocking how they got 1400hp out of a 1.5ltr engine.
Watching a 2 minute clip of senna qualifying at monaco in 89 is electrofying,an hour and a half might just give me a throbber.
Reckon its going to be very moving.
I was in france at the time on a carp fishing trip.knew something had gone on from the radio but wasn't sure what.
Will take me back to the 80's sat glued to the screen with my dad on sundays watching the f1

Absolutely, where are you seeing it?
The release is the 3rd but I couldn't see it in Sheffield until the 13th at the Showroom.

I'd love to see it on the big screen. The on board camera footage should be great. Watching F1 on the telly nowadays it can all look quite slow.

Some of the old f1 footage they look barely in control.compared to todays cars which are very smooth, and a lot quicker.suppose its the same situation as the gpB rally cars.they look fast but against modern wrc's you may aswel be in a clown car with a big horn and doors hanging off.but the uncontrolability is what makes it exciting (and too dangerous)

I will be going to check this out, particularly seeing as I seem to have damaged my finger again and will need at least 2 weeks off.
Sorry to be an idiot, but how can I find out where this is being shown in Manchester?

Went to see this last week when it finally made its slow journey to Wales. Its awesome. While being a fan I was always going to say that my better half who leaves the house in a hurry on a race day also thought it was brilliant. What a shame Schumacher didn't have to beat him to win some of those early titles.

Saw this in Manchester and thought it was great too (I've never watched a formula 1 race in my life).
It surprised me how recent it all was. I would have guessed it all happened in the 70s / 90s, just from remembering the names on telly. I thought Alain Prost came across as an interesting character and it seemed as though Prost soon learned from him about how to win, despite the romantic sportsman / ruthless professional pairing they were portrayed as at the start.
And yeah, the on-board camera stuff made it look like a dangerous thing, like watching Dean Potter slackline without a harness.

did anyone else see the Rich Heap directed 'Grand Prix - the Killer years' that went on bbc 3 a while ago? all about the time in the 60's when it was really dangerous. very interesting and powerful stuff.

Agreed. I wasn't aware of how influential Stuart has been with addressing safety concerns surrounding F1 back in the day.
I saw Senna yesterday at the Showroom. Watching that famous lap of the Monte Carlo circuit on the big screen was ridiculously impressive/terrifying.

I saw Senna last week in Luton and thought it was fantastic on the big screen. It must have been so frustrating with all the shitty politics, I think I would have smacked someone if I was in his shoes!
