When I bought mine the foam was in a polythene bag inside the cover. I left it as it was, but if it's not perfectly level, the outer cover slips on the polythene when I land on it causing me to fall and crease my tweeds and almost spill my pipe once or twice.
I was going to rip the placcy bag out but just thought I'd see what others opinions are on here. Never seen a bag in a mat before...

If it's causing a problem on landing then I'd take it out, but both my Beal pads have got their foam in bags and it's helped on a few occasions when I've had to put pads  in puddles etc. Wet foam is a nightmare.

I believe Pod were the first to put polythene covers between the foam, and the outer, to stop the foam absorbing any moisture, meaning it last longer, and won't get your back wet when carrying it back. I think it also means the foam fold better when packing the pad away. If it's causing problems, I'd get rid of it. Just try and avoid any puddles.
