Parthian flake
March 08, 2011, 09:32:25 pm
Wandered under Parthian this evening and noticed a big chunk of the flake is gone. Looked like it might affect the climbing more than the gear, but I have no idea really. That is all.

Yeh, I saw some guys topping it on Sunday - Polish (Pete)? Got it clean on top, not sure if he led it. Not sure if it's related to the break though?

Hopefully the flake-breakage was an injury-free event.

A rubber-necker on the other side mentioned an accident involving visiting Canadian wads at Burbage S on monday evening... edale MRT picked them up. Reading between the lines makes it sound possibly connected :( Hope they're both ok.

Did you hear anything from the visiting Canadians, JB? Here's hoping everyone's OK.

I phoned the Northern General (couldn't bear the thought of some poor soul and his mate stranded in the UK with no support or help whilst folk speculated on the Internet) and yes, one of the Canadian lads was admitted on Monday after a climbing accident and has since 'gone home' according to the admission staff which sounds like good news.

Let's hope it's all OK.

Fair enough but given the climber is OK I'm not quite sure what the problem is. Clearly there is an interesting story to be told. Visiting Canadian climber decks out off iconic Grit hard route vandalising it in the process

Hard to articulate this, but its nothing to do with 'privacy'. If it became a big news story it might attract the attention of certain service providers who might then withdraw/ become reluctant to provide said service, at considerable expense to the climber.
