Ceuse without a car
January 07, 2012, 08:30:13 pm
Will be heading there in July (PSYCHED OUT OF MY TINY MIND) but can't drive yet! Does anyone have any experience with what airports to go to, trains to Gap etc? Any advice at all would be much appreciated!

yeah, i flew to marseille and got the train to gap. arrived late at night so got a taxi (about 20quid) up to sigoyer. after that i hitched back and forth (mainly with some mutant basques) when i needed to get food from town. you can subsist on food from the campsite shop but expect to pay over the odds, plus its quite nice to go to town and drink coffee/look at girls/eat cake/wander aimlessly about.

They also have free wifi throughout the town these days. Its also possible to fly to Nice, train to Marseille, then Gap (if direct flights aren't available). Hitching out of town seems tricky at first but just walk towards the right side and you'll soon get a lift rather than a Taxi.

Be warned some of the locals that offer you lifts (especially women in large Peugeout estates) think they're related to Alain Prost!

When were you planning on going in July? I was thinking of driving out so maybe could give you a lift out.

I did something similar to saltbeef: flying to Marseille but then we got an airport bus to Aix-en-Provence and then a coach to Gap. We got there late and the taxi was more like 50 euros. Did the same thing on the way back but we managed to sort a tourist taxi back from the campsite to gap early in the morning (it does the rounds off all the campsites) and that was more like 5 euros. Ask at the campsite for this.

er, fell off alot. got burned off by children. routeswise corps etranger, changement de look (v good), san georges pecos(the 7b+), i certainly didn't drink enough wine, watched start of a stage of tour de france. good trip.

I'm not sure what you're alluding to?
(it was a previous trip that i blew dave grahm's mind with tales of sexual deviance, and was rude to patxi about his mono dread)
