Creatine Cycling
October 12, 2010, 01:53:57 pm
I did a bit of a search but couldnt really find much. I was wondering if anyone has tried creatine cycling and whether it worked, I did read that people have tried it, got stronger but then got heavy. Would cycling avoid this? I was thinking of 3 weeks on 3 weeks off.
Also if people are using it to success what kind of frequencies and dosages are you using?

heard of this WC climber that used it in the early stages of his preparation years ago, to gain some lean mass and get through a high volume phase a bit better. (friends of friends anedoctal evidence...)

most of the weight increase should be water retention anyway, so when stopping you should drop it easily.

no more that that, sorry.

2 weeks on 2 weeks off, 3grms per day is what I've been advised.

Also, don't store creatine in a sports drink during the day. Mix up when you need it as it degrades when mixed and left.

I found when your on the stuff its good, but when i stopped the crash was quite bad. I had put on weight and then lost all energy. Felt doubly as weak. The only answer was to structure training around how long you'd cycle it for... say 6 weeks. Then just ride out the first few weeks of feeling crap when you stop. Couldnt be arsed in the end, just pulled my finger out and trained harder and better without! Whey protein before n after sessions for muscle recovery and making sure you got a good daily dose of protein, and the rest, let nature sorts itself out is what i think. ?

I cycle 2 weeks on 2 weeks off - 1/2 a teaspoon in the morning on my cereal - only over the winter months. I don't feel any drop in performance at all when I'm off it. I seem to remember that Probes reacted quite badly to it last year - stiff cramping muscles??? I have no reaction at all (could be rubbish stock???). It increases my training from the 2hrs to about 2.30hrs of reasonable performance including warmup and warmdown.

You've missed the point, this is about taking creatinine in cycles i.e. one week of taking it followed by three weeks of not, then another week of taking it followed by three weeks of not, repeat ad nauseum == cycle.

If you're into cycling then check out the two wheel spiel section.

I don't feel any drop in performance at all when I'm off it.

Surely the corollary of that is that you don't feel any gain in performance while you're on it? Why bother taking it?
