macbook help request
October 05, 2010, 02:53:54 am
Ok - so Ive got one of these Macbook things (macbook pro 13") and Ive dual booted it with windows 7 enterprise using bootcamp (as I need this for work). All seems well and good and all the drivers loaded successfully from the OSX cd. The problem I have is that completely randomly, maybe once of twice a day, the thing just crashes and displays a blank white screen. Anyone got any ideas? The only additional thing Im using is an external dell monitor.

From what Ive read an update of the graphics card driver may be the way forward, but the hardware is mac specific (who'd have thought...) and nvidia don't have the graphics card listed as an option. Apparently http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ is the way to go - anyone got any experience using their drivers?

Try running it without the external monitor for a bit?

Under which OS do the crashes occur, OSX or Win7 (or both)?

If its both then its likely hardware, if its one or the other then consider investigating drivers.

Finally got a result on this - apparently there is a known issue with the mid 2010 onwards macbook pro 13" when using an external display. End result was they upgraded me to a 15" for free  :great:
