Alport Topos !

Crag is now banned until further notice!
We were approached by a member of haddon estates today who asked us to leave.  He was very nice and polite, as were we and everything was very friendly.  We left the crag right away and hopefully made a good impression.  I told him that the BMC may want to contact whoever owns the land to try to arrange some sort of agreement and he told me that they would need to contact the office at haddon estates.

The situation seems promising but please stay away until something gets sorted.

Sorry to censor your post ben8522, but i feel that publishing topos to this venue (in light of the above information) is probably a bad thing to do right now.

I suggest that all avoid the venue until some sort of access agreement has been reached, or you jeapordise losing it altogether.

As I understand it, access is now ok here as long as climbers don't park by the crag, but instead in the village. So, does anyone have the knowledge on all the problems here?

Only if you promise to use fewer 'o's in 'loosing'... ;)

it's a lime bouldering venue in alport near bakewell in the peak. Access went dodge a couple of years ago but I think is sorted. There's over a dozen probs I think, but I only know two.

Awesome to here things have been sorted.loads of photos of all the problems including full topo's for left and right caves on way(just got to dig em out).if you go there, check out "stumped" 7c+,it's in the right hand cave and has to be one of the best roof probs in the peak(inverted stacked foot locks in the big hole) 8).

if its all cool, medals all round i reckon.this is a unique venue.how many tufa crags do we have in  lil ol england?i know a few geologists who have sampled/studied this crag/area and it seems very uniquie.i spent many happy months cleaning and climbing all bar 2 of the probs with regular contact with local residents and an ocasional spot from the local farmer who all seemed very supportive and most amussed.conflict only occured when the old machinery was moved from what i can gather from alport residents. all credit to the bmc ,good effort.
