trendy ladies' panniers - any knowledge?
April 24, 2010, 08:38:27 pm
So, me and the wife (that's Mrs Starfish) [/columbo] have been getting quite into this cycling thing. She bikes to work whenever possible and has so far been using a rucksack to carry her files, lunch, spare clothes etc. Now, I use some old school Karrimor panniers from the early eighties and am happy for her to use them. However, like all beautiful women she likes to surround herself with pretty things and my scruffy old dark green panniers are not pretty. Anything that makes her happy makes me happy, so I set about finding some nice looking panniers for her.

The main contenders are the Basil range and the Kitsch Kitchen ones. Like this stuff....

Basil Memory

Kitsch Kitchen Fuity

Basil Mirte

Basil Shopper XL

Prolly looking for single bags rather than pairs that hang over the rack as these seem easier to carry when not on the bike.
Anyone got any of these products? or know anyone that uses them? Any good (apart from looking good of course)?
Any alternative recommendations?

No idea, but the Basil Memory ones look like they won't clean very easily. One wet morning in Sheff and they'd probably be ruined.

What chappers said. I've got ortileb panniers and they are the business. Plus, look at all the pretty colours they come in!

Sorry, lagers but I haven't found anything useful. However I have successfully passed the last couple of hours googling "womens saddlebags". Cheers.
