I'm heading off in 2w time to SE france for a 2w clipping holiday. So far car rental looks to be £23/day at cheapest; flying into Nice airport. Does anyone know if this is about right or are there any amazingly cheap solutions I've not checked yet? Ta!

I normally book the car through Europcar who have a discount agreement with Easyjet, they all seem about the same price.
Have you climbed round Nice before? The localguide (Escalade dans Les Alpes Maritimes) is the worst guide I've ever seen, there's some topos here: http://escailloux.free.fr/topo.html which you may find useful.

Cheers for that, just checked them out and at the moment 23/day is about the cheapest, but looks like leaving it until a couple of days before flying saves a lot of money......although that may just be the easter holidays making it more expensive

thanks serpico, the conditions link will be proper useful. We're heading out of nice to the Verdon, plus some of the single pitch crags covered in that new 'Hautes Provence' guide......buoux or saint leger areas. Hopefully the new guide will be ok but you never know 'till you get there. Have a nice picture book guide for the verdon too although it looks like the crags were shot from space!
