If you're going to portugal make a special detour to vila joya http://www.vilajoya.com/GB/vilajoyaspecial.html

Absolutely the best meal ever.

Do Vila Joya and you're guaranteed bouldering trips till you die a happy man.

Ok it's not cheap but it's the best value lunch I've ever had.

It's amazing round there. Lisbon airport 20 mins drive and smack in the middle of arguably European surfings answer to font. Well cheap too. Love it. I believe Byron did the rounds there too...

That looks lush - was looking for a destination for bouldering and surfing (I don't surf, mate does)
But on reading through the site, it all looks a bit too high-end for us, starting mostly around 6c+
Is there a similar place in Portugal where the grades are more firmly in punter territory? 5c - 6b kinda range? With surfing?

It did.

I have a really shitty guide book that covers a lot of sport stuff and some of the bouldering, but I would imagine you'd get most of the info on the decent stuff online, it's definitely an area worth a visit, I'd love to go back one day.

There's a load of climbing in Portugal, of all levels, some of it looked really nice, we didn't do a lot but what we did do was definitely not hard climbing.   ;)From what I remember there is a fair bit of info on crags etc and a  couple of people who live out there on the other side, so worth a search if you are seriously considering it.

miki, we are thinking of coming out in April. What will the temperature be like? Is it fairly family friendly (we have an 18 month old).

Looks lovely!

We'll be there for as week from the 10th April Mika.
We're staying near Guincho beach, so I think its only a short drive to the boulders from there.
If there's any chance of meeting up - even if its only for an hour that would be very much appreciated.
Lucy are you and Percy deffo going out ?

Place called Merces, about 20 mins drive from beach, boulders etc I think. Had to find a place with room for about 100 kids or so  ;)

Can't wait  :bounce:

I have been there, too! Actually I have been on Erasmus student exchange to Portugal, and we went climbing there quite a lot. I liked it a lot.
