Hangboard
January 07, 2004, 11:37:05 am
Got space above a door frame to mount a hangboard for when i can't be bothered going out to the garage to train.
Just going to rest the bottom of the board on the top of the door frame, and have a couple of blocks to hold it agains the wall at the top. That way I can just take it up and down whenever I want.
Now it'll be about 42cm x 72cm which is plenty big enough....but what shall I put on it?

I was just going to use 3 different sized holds (small, medium, large) and put them in three rows like a mini campus board. Maybe add a couple of big slopers too.

All holds to have nice rounded edges, reckon crimps will just cause injury.

Any point in having any fancy holds on there or will the basics do?

Any ideas anyone?

i recon just the basics will do. my 3 rungs are a 1inch (meduim campus rung size, warming up), 3/4 inch (small campus rung size) and 1/2 inch, but are all rounded off on the edge. i've never been injured on it yet, and its kind on the skin. recently put some slopey screwon footholds on but they are "projects" really....

If you can't summon up the energy to walk 15 feet to the garage are you going to have the energy to get off the sofa and train? That is the laziest thing I've ever read. Congratulations!

Ok, let me re-phrase that:

"For when I can't be bothered gettting the car out, moving the myriad ladders, old wheels and other assorted junk, taking the 10 locks off the motorbike and moving it, then switching on the space heater for 15 mins so it's not ridiculously cold. "

When the garage is sorted it'll be a lot easier but in the meantime it'd be handy to have something that I can do on my way to the bog or whilst working, etc.

Won't you be too trembly to train though, as those things undoubtedly involve several off the wrist aswell?

Just don't liberate the wood from a skip and end up with the piss soaked leftovers of some pet house screwed to the wall :(
