Buoux over easter
February 10, 2010, 12:43:34 pm
Hoping to go to Buoux from the 31st March - 11th April. As I'm 23, the young driver surcharge on car hire is £290, added to the £350 for the car makes it pretty unrealistic.

Is anyone (over 25) planning on being out there about the same time and want to share a car? Or any other suggestions? We're probably flying liverpool-nice and camping in Apt, so a car will be massively useful, especially for exploring the nearby towns and villages.

Open to other destination suggestions if anyone wants to share a car.  Anywhere with good sport climbing in the 6s and low 7s would probably suit us pretty well. And cheapish too  ;)

Cheers
Gareth

is that the best you can do on car hire? I paid much much less for that last time I hired a car abroad (this was in Spain). Some had under 25 policies, the others under 21. We obviously went with the latter. It was £95 for a ford ka or £110 for a car with A/C... Free additional driver, etc.

I've looked at several of the major companies, Europcar, Avis etc. I will obviously have to do somemore googling...

Cheers

First google hit I got redicued the main fee to ~£200, thats from http://www.auto-europe.co.uk which is a considerable saving already.S

mall print says additional fee per day for ages between 21-24 but I'm sure if you search a 'lil more you might have better luck. Its like shopping for car insurance etc. its a long and boring procedure of searching and getting quotes until you get the best.

holidayautos.co.uk didn't seem to have any charges when I last looked so maybe try them first.

Sorry mate, all the ads that came from carhire3000 have the £25/€35/day fee for under 25s, which was what I was trying to avoid.

I've since found that all companies have this, so endless searching ain't gonna work.

are you sure? I couldn't find any reference to it on one site I linked for you.

Anyway I found £200 for car hire, 129 in Funny Money for young driver, which still comes in cheaper than your original quote?

Thanks for the tips fella. Are you looking at one week? For ten days is comes to £270 from auto europe, and you have to actually submit all your details for them to tell you the surcharge. £200 would make a fair difference though.

You could always ditch the car and stay in Buoux in style:
http://www.aubergedesseguins.com/Francais/tarifs.html
38 euros for the dormitory, breakfast and evening meal (and the restaurant is excellent, people drive up from Marseille for Sunday lunch so the overnight grub won't be bad either).
And you'll be 5 minutes from Bout du Monde.
