Now I'm as bad as the next man for not clicking on the g-ads (though a little better since this topic came up), but I'm gonna have to big them up in this case - just clicked on the bristol climing shop thats at the bottom of the page at the moment - it's just down the round from the climbing academy, it's on west st (for non bristolians, this means surrounded by massage parlours and head shops), and it's called Dicks. I can't really ask for more than that.

Also, don't the ads get better targeted based on which ones get clicked? No idea if this is true, seem to remember hearing it (prob on here) somewhere.

I agree with Houd, Jas, Dave and the fat Dr.  Leave your x-box switched off for one month, do some research, collect some data and start making ad revenue.

Also, get that Paypal donate button more visible again and don't be afraid to ask for some money every now and again.

He's right - the paypal button would make a number of people inject cash straight away. I typed a long post on my new phone last night and lost it all. However it was along these lines: I post on a forum, it's quite busy, but small - and by virtue of being pretty much the only one of it's kind in the UK, is pretty much the place to go for info etc (like UKB in fact)

the members there never seem to tire of selling stuff and donating the proceeds to the forum, or just sending cash to the admin. There is a 'Contribute' button - all Paypal, and you give what you want.

BUT - a £5 payment (this is the minimum) gives a new status, and access to a private sub board - this is quite busy, but not abused ir used for bitching etc. However, payers seem to like it sometimes. Man can also pay lots more off the same page if hey want to. I don't think they get owt other than not having to renew the fiver every year.

Still, it's just a page built from the forum software (vbulletin in this case).

I paid my fiver the last 2 years - because a fiver ain't much, and it's the only forum, and a good one at that, for something I'm intersted in and want to be able to discuss etc....

bas curvier's finest?  in all honestly tho I would pay for things such as merch to boost the sites economy and i do now click the adds.  i tend to agree that climbing adds would be good with a mixture of the other selective groups such as one for the runners/bikers/surfers might catch someones eye

Have had some serious offers now so it's deadline time.

If anyone else is interested in the sites please submit your offer by Friday afternoon as I want to make a decision this weekend to get this all wrapped up.

Though ideally, don't sell us to anyone too mean or scary.  Please.

Shame you never charged Cocktalk for all the news items they ripped off from the site.

Unstickying this for now.

An offer has provisionally been accepted subject to some minor details being ironed out.

Will update when something definite has been agreed.

Locking this now as I'm no longer looking for further offers, etc.

The sale is in progress and the new owners will post up something to let you know what's going down when this has been completed.

Hopefully we're talking a timescale of around a couple of weeks.
