More than 6 million people over the age of 65 have never used the internet, according to government figures.

Is this a bad thing? :)

How do I buy one?
There are two ways in which you can order your simplicity computer: -
   1. Order now and pay online (via PayPal) Order Now
   2. Order by post and pay by cheque. Download Order Form PDF 0.5MB
:-\
Somehow I think they may need to amend their ordering process.

:P yeah - not very well thought out...

How long will it be before they are bamboozled with stuff like this: (ooh Frank dear, look at this - it says I've won)

Then they're doing ok with the normal PC they are currently using and don't need to waste £500 on a new system with only 6 buttons :)

I'd also think "sitting in front of the monitor and keyboard" not behind it would be a useful starting point.

Obviously they've gone with GNU/Linux 'cause its so easy  :P

With the added bonus that as FOSS there is no licensing fee so it keeps the cost down for those on a pension.

::)

I think they probably need to revise their marketing plan and sell it with a relative who is on hand to help with any problems and get a better marketing team who choose a medium that will actually reach their intended market, but you all clocked that already.

You mean you don't rate computergranny? We have decided we are going to outsource all our tech support to her...

Check out her qualifications:

Quote
My unique qualifications

I got my first computer in 1983 so I've been at this a long time

Computers both frustrated me and fascinated me, so in 1996 I went in pursuit of an education in computer science at the age of 45

1999 I graduated with a degree in computer programming & software engineering (With honors! Not bad for a grandma huh? J)

1999 my late husband Ron and I opened the Adult Beginner's Computer 'School to provide seniors with a common sense method of learning to use a computer that no one else does

Since we  could find no suitable textbook for our unique school anywhere, late in 1999 I wrote my very first, hands-on computer book series designed especially for seniors with astonishing results

1999-2001 we taught under-employed seniors how to use computers to qualify for work with a fabulous success rate & expanded into the senior citizen recreational computing market

2001 to present...I specialize in helping seniors with all their computer needs, at a price they can afford, in terms they understand
