one for all the computer geeks out there...

when i go to http://www.google.co.uk at work, instead of getting google i get some cPanel "There is no website configured at this address." page, and no amount of refreshing or cache clearing makes any difference. whats more strange is that everyone else in my office gets google fine, and bear in mind i work with IT proffesionals, no-one has a clue whats the crack here. been happening for the last week or two now. am i seeing gogle through some proxy thats got that cached for soem reason??!!??? WTF :?:

Thats a good one! it could be that your DNS settings are half cocked and you are for some reason pointing to a idjut nameserver? check your settings with that old stalwart ipconfig /all, then compare them against that of someone who work.

I reckon it sounds like some wierd ass cache thing too to be honest. The chance of it looking up Google wrong are low!

You mentioned proxies and they cache pages so that your internet pipe gets hit less, but then if everyone else is fine then it can't be that....

I reckon its a PEBCAK - Problem exists between Chair and Keyboard

done all that, tried it, didn't work. restarted machine, checked everything again (the logon scripts here overwrite a lot of changes), ran the flushdns again, still no joy (even after deleting temp internet cache again and forecing a refresh). fuck knows.

Fight the urge Dobbin! Fight the urge!

Well, if you overlook the spelling mistake what you will acheive by typing the aforementioned command is to flush your DNS resolver cache, whilst this sounds good and we've mentioned cache's before as potentially being the area at fault, we've also mentioned that Dave uses a proxy server, so the only cached entry in his resolver cache will be for the proxy server itself. The Proxy does its own lookup and resolution from there and we know thats working as the rest of his homies are surfing happilly.

You can show the contents of the resolver cache with ipconfig /displaydns.

I don't know what this problem is, its wierd. The only other thing that might be worth trying is to close all IE windows, delete all the temp internet files and give it another whirl. I almost bet you money that won't fix it though...
