I've ended up colossally pissed several times in SLC. There are loads of bars, several of which brew their own beer and damned good it is too.

No denying there's a lot of religious strangeness though.

lets see what mc hawking has to say on the subject:

Quote
Fuck The Creationists

Ah yeah, here we go again!
Damn! This is some funky shit that I be laying down on your ass.
This one goes out to all my homey's working in the field of
evolutionary science.
Check it!

Fuck the damn creationists, those bunch of dumb-ass bitches,
every time I think of them my trigger finger itches.
They want to have their bullshit, taught in public class,
Stephen J. Gould should put his foot right up their ass.
Noah and his ark, Adam and his Eve,
straight up fairy stories even children don't believe.
I'm not saying there's no god, that's not for me to say,
all I'm saying is the Earth was not made in a day.

Fuck, fuck, fuck,
fuck the Creationists.

Break it down.
Ah damn, this is a funky jam!
I'm about ready to kick this bitch back in.
Check it.

Fuck the damn creationists I say it with authority,
because kicking their punk asses be me paramount priority.
Them wack-ass bitches say, "evolution's just a theory",
they best step off, them brainless fools, I'll give them cause to fear me.
The cosmos is expanding every second, every day,
but their minds are shrinking as they close their eyes and pray.
They call their bullshit science like the word could give them cred,
if them bitches be scientists then cap me in the head.

Bass!
Bring that shit in!
Ah yeah, that's right, fuck them all motherfuckers.
Fucking punk ass creationists trying to set scientific thought back 400 years.
Fuck that!
If them superstitious motherfuckers want to have that kind of party,
I'm going to put my dick in the mashed potatoes.
Fucking creationists.
Fuck them.

Utah looks wicked, seen some stuff about Big Bend before but can't remember where.

I'm planning a trip to the US next year, when I've recovered from injury and should be strong enough to make the best of a trip. I'm going to try and take a month off work, and my intention was to just go to Yosemite and hang around, then thought there must be better/other places I could go to.

Thought that there must be some mofos on here who can give me the 411 on representin' yo posse Stateside.

Anyone got any recommendations for where I should go / what I should do given a month free to climb in the states?

I will most probably be

a) quite skint and
b) still climbing at a relatively punterish level (although obviously if I hadn't got injured I'd be getting ready to show Dave Graham what time it is...)

so somewhere with loads of V12s will be great, but I won't be anywhere near crankin' em out.

And Dave, if I could borrow you Cadillac Coupe de Ville so I can hit the three wheel motion on the way to the crag I will give you much respeck.

If I was going anywhere in the states bouldering, I'd head south for the sandstone. Looks the business....

personally i'd go on a rampage to black mountain, the tramway etc, and other "dope spots". Personally speaking i wouldn't fly 9 hours to climb slopey sandstone when font is so close.

Hey Tommy and all. I am back to the States late November, working the Colorado winter ski season and then doing another climbing trip come spring. Get in touch if you are about. RT Mick generously gave me a copy of the Pegg guide which proved very useful. Its a pretty good guide for the visitor, but there is a more comprehensive one. Drove through Big with non climbing mates - looks super good and very spectacular scenery, but shit its warm there! April was already way too warm at midday for bouldering. Ibex is good and remore, but also super hot and super snaky!!! Joe's is the bomb! So many good problems that you dont know where to start. Bit out there in the middle of nowhere though. Cottonwood is rubbish in comparison to granite at J tree and Buttermilks though.
