Rumour V8?
July 25, 2008, 04:41:35 pm
This morning I cleaned and repeated this Nadin problem (assuming the rumour is true) on the backside of the super boulder at the Roaches- I think it is more like v7 than v8. I recommend you all to go and climb it. Some nice moves through the two overlaps and a slightly highball grit finish. It would be good to try to keep it clean for a few weeks atleast. It is well shaded from the sun by trees.

Nice work! Grit V7 slab in this weather is good going. Should make for a good circuit with the Spring slabs.

Is Katz's arete to the left clean at the mo? That's a good highball.

No- I planned to clean that too and the crack, but I got sidetracked onto some routes. I have not done either of them yet.

Downgrading a Nadin problem doesn`t happen every day. - although I guess he never actually graded it  himself as he ain`t sure if he climbed it.

If the one big pebble snaps off (which it could/will), then it could be closer to V8. Having said that- if it sees some traffic (gets even cleaner) then it could be a classic V6 by September (once the friction returns).

The friction has returned! Did this today, it comes very highly recommended, surely one of the best pure slab problems around? Good effort resurrecting it. I would put it in the Font 7a ballpark. Deserves more recognition as the classic that it is.

I will let you have your way on this one! Benchmark 7a

I hope you don`t mind though, i had a session working through some of your ungraded Chapel problems- v graded them ofcourse!! And what is that '5c' problem on the 45 board? Surely there is no such font grade!
