Heel Hooking after Hamstring Graft
May 16, 2010, 02:26:04 pm
A section of my hamstring was harvested  :o to reconstruct my Poptliteofibular Ligament. Assuming all goes well and I get back to bouldering sometime, how do you think this will affect my heel-hooking ability?

Currently it's the only bit that actually hurts much! I guess the other bits don't hurt becasue they are connected to any nerves yet!

In fact, some people have used biceps femoris grafts.

I'd expect the limiting factor to be your PFJ repair rather than the donor site.  But as ever, I'd check with your surgeon.

True.

Doubt they'll have taken any of my biceps femoris as it was possibly damaged according to the MRI.

As to the PFJ - I really hope that it's successful as it seems to the important one! It's all looking good so far - not too sore/stiff and the surgeon was happy with my stability post-op. Stiches out on tuesday.  :)

 :spank:

It's definitely not my biceps femoris - just checked the anatomy and it's hurting on the wrong side of my leg!

I'm guessign I'm going to hve to do a lot of hamstring and quad work before I can do any hooking....

To be honest, if I can get back to doign trad and sport, bouldering can wait...
