Right, i'm just about to finish uni and want to get sorted with some proper training for climbing. Im climbing about 7a at the moment maybe a little harder if the problem suits. The thing that I feel lets me down is my fingers and arm strength. I can lock off at the full lock position on on a jug but if i try and do 1 arm at 45 deg its all over. I would like to get some lockoff and power gains from fingerboarding but after looking at a lot of info I have a few questions.

Im going to head down to B&Q in the next few days to get some supplies so what do I need. The girlfriend has a garden that I can put any sort of freestanding wall up in so what are the possibilities. I was thinking of trying to make a 8' x 8' 40 degrees overhanging sytem board with maybe a foot high vertical board at the bottom. The campus board could then be attached to that. How would I go about doing the afformentioned board.

It would need to go into the ground as there is no other structure to build it off. Is this doable or am I dreaming. Would I be better off just making a campus board. Im in norwich and use the UEA wall almost exclusively so that is a big motivation to make a little wall.

Any help would be awesome.

Whatever you do don't go to B&Q, unless you want to come away with an empty wallet. Go to a proper timber or builders merchant like Lavers, Jewsons, etc etc.

Also, you don't need a 1-foot high kickboard, 6" at the most, or don't bother with one at all, especially if its a system board. otherwise like the man says, read the other thread.

Just had a little look at those threads and theres a lot of good info in there. I was thinking that an L frame would do the job and be freestanding. I might knock up some rough plans and stick em on here for opinions.
