sorry i know this is very very silly, but it's just to be sure.
with my current internet provider i had quite an issue, concerning pricing and downloading. i pay a fixed price and can download at max 5 giga, otherwhise, as i discovered, i will pay alot of money if i go on.
i can set a warning for when i get close to the limit, but it uses megabytes.
so, to set a limit of 5 giga, is it correct to set the warning at 5000 mega?

Yes, but no.

1 kilo byte =1024 bytes.
1 Megabyte= 1024 KB
1 GB= 1024 MB.

This is basically because it's based on binary stuff  ie 2¹⁰=1024.

Don't forget extra room is needed for other data.
Really 5GB= 1,073,741,824 KB.
Your 5GB will be 5120MB.

I guess its likely to be software thats monitoring/logging how much has been downloaded in the current month?

exactly, i pay 19 euros per month, but must stay under 5 giga, otherwise i will receive a 4 digit bill, and will have to sue them for fraud as already done.
