Random Churnet Prob............
March 01, 2008, 01:30:23 pm
Ended up going to the churnet last weekend which was surprisingly dry somehow.  Anyone have any idea what the wall to the left of wrights rock is?  Basically goes up the centre of the wall of the 6a traverse.

Cluster of pebbles for RH, crimpy pocket for LH then snatch up to a gaston with your RH, feet up and make a big rockover for a flat jug in the middle of the wall.

Prob about 7a+ / 7b ish but quite reachy or "morpho" as ferret seems to endlessly remind me!  ;)

Any ideas?

Cheers,

Bullitt

Try here:

I think the problem you are referring to is listed as Rocket Ride 6c+ (though I could be wrong).

If you do a search there's loads of threads about problems in the churnet valley.

Not really that morpho.
I'm 5'8" and it was fine, just committing.
6c+ seems OK, well good problem too!!

6c+ eh?  I must have used a duff sequence then or may just have to down grade everything else on wrights rock to 5+ to keep it in line with this prob!  ;)

Cheers for the info fellah's

If you had left hand on large round pebble, right hand on crimpy lay-away with a long reach to middle break then that is the 6c+.

There is a 7a+/7b just to the right of this, maybe clarification of what you did may help your satisfaction.

I'm interested in what other problems you did. It seems to me that many problems in the Churnet seem to be graded right when taken in isolation, but miles off when compared to neighbouring probs. Strange.
