Mello help -Urgent
August 29, 2007, 12:15:35 pm
Neilh is out in italy at the moment. The weather is pants to say the least.
One thing he didn't know was that the road up to Mello is shut until the end of Sept  :wall: and there is only a bus service that starts at 1pm. It wouldn't be so bad but he is with the littleone with him. So even when the weather eases up on Sat it looks like it will be a logistical nightmare to get a decent days bouldering in.

So, does anyone have any ideas of other places he could go to? the 2 things though is that it has to be no too far from Milan (where I fly in to join them on Friday night) and that it is 4yr old friendly.

Not asking for much am I  ;)

wise ones of UKB, please help.  :-*

Magic wood is fairly close but not very child friendly. Chironico and Cresciano are further but slightly better for child, but I guess he has already thought of these.

I know there is some bouldering on the Italian side of the Splugen Pass, which would be closer, but don't know anything about quality or child friendliness. It looked, when driving past like boulders on open meadows/ hillsides. Not much help really, sorry.

Quick note about the car park in mello. Don't risk parking there, we did. Copped a 106 euro fine.
Smooth.

Could boulder down in Sector Tarzan, which is near the sassa di remenno boulder [ Behind the youth Hostel to be precise ] Some cool problems around that area.

Thanks for the info, just got back, ended up going to Mello then Arco wish I could have stayed out there  :'(

One thing though, you didn't get the fine for parking up in Mello, you got the fine for driving up the road (and ignoreing the sign at the start of the road that said the road was shut).

We had been told that the road was shut at weekends before we went, but when we got there we found that it was shut continually for 2 months until the 2nd Sept (I presume dates change slightly every year).

The thing is though that there is a bus if you don't feel like walking and it is 1€ each way. The walk isn't too far though and most people could easily do it.
