A couple of days ago Lisa Rands led the bold Johnny Dawes route Gaia at Black Rocks. This is now her second E8 on grit which is a fine effort indeeed especially when you consider that no other women has climbed this grade on Grit nor for that matter many men. Lisa and friends have been staying with us for the past 2 weeks and although they have managed to climb most days the condidtions have been far from perfect. She made a number of visits to Black Rocks first to practice the route on a top rope then finally to lead it. On several occasions she was either knocked back by poor conditions (either rain or sun) or the difficulty of the initial crux moves which certainly look harder if you are on the short side. An early start on Easter Saturday brought good conditions and success. Good effort Lisa.

I dunno I think quite a few blokes have top-roped 20-year-old E8 routes into submission by now  where's the evil grinning smiley when you need it eh
