Tsunami disaster relief fund
December 31, 2004, 10:39:01 am
I'm sure we've all been shocked and upset by the appalling images and tales of death and destruction in SE Asia.

For me, seeing the awful images from beaches in Thailand where I spent very happy times a few years ago has really brought it home.

It's not my place to urge people what to do with their hard-earned, especially when everyone's skint after christmas, but I've just donated some dollars to the amazon relief fund.

If you've got an amazon account, it'll take you a few seconds

Please donate if you can.

Was at the Heason events "Jim Perrin reading from 'The Villan'" night at the Lescar last night.

Jim auctioned of the original manuscript of the villan, printed on A4 warts and all (well cat sick anyhow) with all proceeds going to the Tsunami fund. At first I thought it might be a bit lame - but in the end it went for about 300 quid. Nice one.
Also on offer was a mystery item of climbing equipment of Dons (turned out to be a tiny peg) that went for a ton.

So nice one Matt and Jim. Good show.

Actually Sam it went for an incredible 350 notes

Add to that a ton for the Whillans bolt/peg thing, plus 3 quid from each of the 50 books that were sold. Plus other cash from sales of Keith Sharples's calendar and probably more than £600 was raised (could be wrong but it won't be far off that). Matt heason will be putting the figure on his website (www.heason.net) at some stage.

Bloody awesome and a good evening.

Oh yeah

Thought Jim was good - despite his initial nervousness.
also - big up to Sam Whitiker for his little piece.
