Knee pain after heelhooking
March 01, 2015, 04:07:37 pm
I've been getting a pain on the inside of my knee after doing powerful heelhooking moves. Then the whole knee feels a bit stiff and twisted for a few days afterwards. Happens more often when the heelhooking is with the foot twisted out to the side. Anyone got any tips for strengthening knee so it stops happening? Or general tips for injury proofing knees?

I've repeatedly injured out outside (LCL?) of my knee on sideways heels (especially heel-toes). Nowadays if there's a route/problem with an aggressive sideways heel-toe I just accept it's not for me and move on, it's not worth the risk. No useful advice other than be prepared to bail on problems if they feel dangerous.

Dead-lifting.  ;)

Also things like this: http://www.sportsinjuryclinic.net/rehabilitation-exercises/knee-hamstring-thigh-exercises/hamstring-curls-in-prone

And These:

Also, single leg squats, progressing onto doing it on a wobble board or similar
