V3+, V4+ and V5+
July 20, 2004, 10:41:02 am
I was inspired by a thread on CT to post this on there re the Rockfax bouldering grade table;

The laughable grade table with V8+, yes we all heared the arguments for it but there is one massive floor.

The argument is that to compare V grades to font you need V8+ so you can directly equate the grade to Font 7b+.
So by the very same token why dont we have V3+ to equate to Font 6a+, V4+ to equate to Font 6b+ and V5+ to equate to Font 6c+?

Answer that one if you can!

Alright man

Never use the B and V grade myself .. Prefer to grade it on English's technical grade.

Well that me !!

Whats the point in having two scales that can be directly compared?

...none -  its the same scale, with two names :roll:

Good point, well made.  :)  Plus lower Font grades (ie at my grade) don't seem to be very consistent, but everyone says the higher grades, > 7a are.

You're wrong. I've travelled years on end to every dusty corner of our planet, and I've found quite a few massive floors.

 Not massive enough for you huh?  :roll:  How about somewhere like B&Q eh, you could take off in a 747 with a run up like that?

My spelling is floored in this case.
