Up in Scotland for a week chilling out and attempting to climb while injured, yesterday we headed to the Ruthven boulder and after about an hour a bald head was visible in the distance approaching us. As he got closer low and behold it turned out to be the legend that is Gaskins.
I managed to control myself and not get all fanboy in the presence of a total legend, he was with his wife and kids and I imagine he headed there to get away from people, not expecting a bunch of brummies dicking about. Really nice guy, as confused as the rest of us with the descriptions in the guide book! Worked a couple of problems with us as a warm up and then saw him working the low version of Dave McLeod's traverse on some disgustingly small crimps, he seemed to be making easy work of the moves.
