Track frames
October 10, 2013, 09:34:23 pm
Can anyone with some knowledge cast their eye over these frames and give their opinion?
 http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=281181737049
I know little about bikes and what concerns me is that there's no mention of weight and they seem no-name. But they look alright. Avoid? Recommendations?
Thank you!

I'd be wary of any steel frame where they don't mention the tubing stock and you don't know who's welded it.  For that sort of price I'm sure you could pick up a second hand Langster, Pista or similar.

Thank you Dolly and Stubbs. Buying second hand, where do you recommend I look? I've currently restricted my search to Ebay but not much is coming up.

This is probably a good place to start, a lot less chance of a stolen bike than on ebay http://www.lfgss.com/forum63.html

I've got a Fuji Classic track if you want to make me a sensible offer.  Spec here:

http://www.evanscycles.com/products/fuji/classic-track-2010-single-speed-road-bike-ec022190#features

I have upgraded the rear wheel to a Halo Aerotrack and added a front brake with a 105 caliper.  Frame size is 58cm.

There's a small tear in the seat, but apart from that it's in very good condition.

BTW, it has a high bottom bracket and if you took the brake off would be good to go if you are intending to actually get down to the velodrome.  Personally I've just used it for riding into work occasionally.

Thank you for the offer but I'm looking for just the frame. Building them is half the fun!
