help planning a climbing trip!
April 19, 2012, 08:05:41 pm
good day folks!

im having a good 18day break off work soon so thought id go on y first climbing trip, im thinking uk but may go over the pond if people think that would be better?
i am off from the 25th of may to the 11th of june, so places where conditons will be good and good climbing to be had, my maximum climbing grade is 7c+ so looking at things a bit easier than that so i can try get lots of climbing in rather than sessioning one hard problem.
i live in north wales already so done lots up here, thinking peak, maybe lakes, even scotland?
or would i be better of going to font for a few dyas instead?

any advice appreciated!

thanks
p.s im aware of boulder britain but like to gain people opinions!  :2thumbsup:

How are you planning on getting around, driving? If so I would keep options open and see what weather does.

18 days you can get a fair bit done; head up to Scotland and cover most of it, combine lakes with northumberland, or head to font or even further.

Cross the sea, my Lad, cross the sea...

A good days drive will put you in the south of France.

Nice and central to follow the weather.

Far more options than home.

Then make for Font en-route home...

The Dover crossing is cheap and quick.

Definitely go abroad, the weather will be hit and miss in the uk.

Stop at Font and from there you can get to Annot, Targassone/Eus or Switzerland in a day.

You could also take the Nort Sea ferries to Rotterdam and be in the Northern Frankenjura by mid afternoon.

Ye Magic only a day drive from font and you'll love it there. If you're prepared for a solo mission go for it. be plenty of folk there to climb with i'd imagine.

Defo go crush in Magic Wood! It'd be a killer drive if you are on your own but as you suggested, you could stop off in font and chill for a day before driving to Magic. Would prob be able to get the time off and offer to come along but I don't think it would go down too well wit t'other half

:chair: then  :whip:

Will be a bit warm, but if you have never been go!

Neil seems to manage big numbers all year round.
