All getting a bit dodgy, just like last yrs blatant plug event.... Masquerading as an open mini beginners DH race.

Should have known better.

Be better to use time on true open local races.. Eckington trail collective being a prime example.

We will see if my cynicism is unfounded.

Near all slots pre "sold" to those in the know... Which is fine... But span as a local race for local people... Don't play the blind man...


AND it was a massive success, respect.

Just don't let events get advertised as one thing, but actually be another...

Had a chat with Obi about this at the wall tonight.
Other than the pro category, a few journos and those who marshalled last year, all the places will be first come first served in the age groups.
I'm mates with the organisers and they sent an email to a group of us who ride together as a reminder to register about a week ago, but from what i've seen there's been no pre-booked mates spaces or favouritism.

From what I understand the site went live in the morning and as last year sold out in a few hours they expected this year to be even quicker.

Big race day arrives, I'll be the one on the Gold Kona with too much (borrowed) body armour.

god.. I'm knackered... Despite losing 6kg, now able to get out of Sheff in the big ring on my road bike, doing upper arm pumping circuits on my board, doing 30 mins of targeted free weights 3 times every 10 days all year I just get halfway up my cat...

Who ever says u don't need to be fit for DH MTB is talking BS.

Great experience, I want to try this race again...

Well that was reet good.  Properly knackered now, definitely not fit enough for what turned out to be only about five runs in total.  Great day though and I didn't come last.  Definitely going to do that again next year if its on and will be up at Greno Woods and perhaps Wharncliffe a lot more.

Too right, great fun. I also didn't come last in my cat (just!) and enjoyed it all. Great scene. Peaty showed us that he hasn't lost any of his world class skills.
