I had a similar sounding problem (in the right), possibly caused by a similar incident (though I'm not sure TBH).
I didn't manage to get around to finding a Physio (which would be the best thing to do). I seem to have resolved the problem by increasing the number and variety of shoulder exercises, starting light and gradually increasing weight/intensity.
I realised I had an inherent weakness/imbalance in my shoulder strength, which I believe made me prone to such an injury.
Persistence with rotator cuff exercises, press ups, Mil press, up-right rowing, butterflies and tricep extensions as well as lots of mobility stretching; over around two months, seem to have laid it to rest.
