to help with a revamp of our site
www.peteranne.it ? Our web site, first created in MS Publisher in 2003, is looking a bit tired.
Specifically we currently have
1. a MS publisher 2003 document in English which creates the “entry page”
www.peteranne.it from which you click to go to the English “home page”
http://www.peteranne.it/index_Page367.htm or the Italian “home page”
http://www.peteranne.it/it/ (same index_page numbers, in a subdirectory)
2. a MS publisher 2003 document in Italian published in
www.peteranne.it/it/ 3. excellent SEO rankings, we DON’t want to lose the SEO positioning NOR modify the technical names of the pages. We did LOADS of work to mention the terms “Sardinia walking” etc the right amount of times to get the SEO working, but probably we would correct text re-written by someone else
4. facebook page where we write mainly in Italian
5. wordpress blog where we write in EN and IT
The English site has grown up over the years and so it looks tired, cluttered and there is a lot of old stuff we could take out. We have LOADS of great, newer photos (see
www.peteranne.it/album ), video at
http://www.youtube.com/user/TheLemonHouse . The Italian site was “Born” only in 2009 and so its content has fewer successive layers.
What we want is:-
1. suggestions on how to revitalise the site. A nice site in terms of look and feel is
http://www.joy-riders.com/ with simpler text and bigger font!
2. for the designer to propose to us a new look and feel, keeping though our colours, logos, navigation bar structures. We can also propose pages to eliminate, although we would like you suggestions for which these should be so as not to harm SEO rankings. More use of photos and videos
3. to import the existing EN site from MS Publisher 2003 into a new piece of SW to overcome the bad bug that when you publish it, the navigation bars aren’t clickable in IE7, you have to ungroup the objects one-by-one. This new piece of SW has to be one that we can buy and manage ourselves, just like MS publisher
to rationalise the site in EN
4. technical help on how we can remove old photos and pages without generating 404 errors. We have a generic 404 error capture page on the site, but we are told by our ISP that we can’t have permanent redirects. We are on IIS 7 (I think)
Thoughts? Thanks Peter
