This is a huge loss to the climbing world.

Chloe will be greatly missed, a true athlete who seemed to excel in all areas of climbing.

So sad!

From Google translate
We received a message from the family of Chloe Graftiaux us some specific circumstances.
We deliver this message as it is: comments on our part we seem unnecessary.
"Frances Anne was the PGHM Courmayeur and his climbing partner Nicolas, Chloe was carried yesterday by a falling rock on the way down from the top of the south face of the black needle Peuterey (Italian part of the Mont white). It was fine yesterday and they had eaten pleased at the top.
On the descent, fatality, it was carried by a block and made a terrible fall of 600 m. At this point it is easy for a climber and it is generally not roped.
I'm at home in Chambery and the arrival of Alice returning from the south, we're going to Courmayeur this morning. We believe that a ceremony should not be sad, despite our great sorrow, France (Chamonix or Aussois) ... It hopes to decide this for this Sunday evening.
Thank you for relaying the info to all his friends.
Thank you for all the support, we will need it ... Feel free to call us whenever you want.

We will be in Chamonix tonight.

Joel Graftiaux "

  • Getting fatter, not fitter.
“We have received a message from Chloe’s family which gives a few more details.

We present it as it is: no commentary needed.

Ann Francoise has learned from Police mountain rescue and Chloe’s climbing partner Nicolas that rockfall carried her away down the south face of  the aiguille noire de Peuterey whilst going back down from the summit (S. side of Mt Blanc). Weather was fine and they had happily stopped to eat on top.

On the descent a fatal accident occurred-  she was carried away by a rock in a terrible fall of 600m. At this point it’s  easy for an alpinist who would not normally (therefore) be roped up. I’m at her house in Chambery and as soon as Alix gets back from the south we’ll be leaving this morning. We have in mind a ceremony which despite our great sorrow should not be a sad affair, to be held in France (at Cham or Aussois),  we hope to make the decision by Sunday night.

Thankyou for getting the information out to all her friends.
Thanks for everyone’s support: we’ll need it. Don’t hesitate to get in touch.

We’ll be in Cham tonight.

Joel”

When someone so young dies it is tragic. My thoughts go to her family and friends.
