Renting a place in Swissy..
July 24, 2010, 01:26:05 pm
I'm off to Swissy with a couple of american friends in september, have never been before so am psyched.. We're only going be there for a week or so but hope to visit Cresciano, Chironico and Magic Wood.. Does anyone know of anywhere to rent out there that would be central for these places? or does anyone know of anywhere that acts as an agency for people looking to rent a place? Slumming it isn't really an option as the yanks are on vacation and want to stay somewhere nice.. I've trawled through most of the swissy posts on here but couldn't find anything that specific, so any help would be much appreciated..

nice new bunkhouse at cresciano (1001bloc@gmail.com, http://climbr.de/tipps/1001-bloc-boulderer-und-kletterer-hostel-in-cresciano). pretty modern with good coffee, bar, wifi, climbing shop etc. walking distance to the boulders. half hour to chironico, hour and a bit to magic wood. don't know about price.

I suspect it'll end up like the new bunk house at magic wood at that price which is a real shame as if they had priced it reasonably then they might get some business

Cheers for the info guys.. place looks really good - though yeah, its kind of expensive £75 between the three of us per night.. thats soon gonna add up, especially if we're there for five nights or something..! think I might sleep in the car!

Switzerland isn't cheap. Just wait until you want to buy Apricots.

Does anyone know of anything nearer to magic wood? There's about 5 of us going, looking for something slightly cheaper/grottier than the above! Some kind of gite/shack would be ideal.

Sorry if I'm out of date but are Cresciano car parking and Magic Wood campsite no longer viable?  There's some bouldering on the opposite side of the (St Bernardo) valley from Magic where one might accidently fall asleep next to the car and probably not get woken up.

Nibs pointed out that this is a shithole

The campsite is still there. Lacks in facilities, i.e. potable water / showers but I generally have a bit of an issue with this place.
