Pulley injuries - who's had them?
November 02, 2015, 02:55:47 pm
Hello all,
My sister's doing an engineering thesis on pulley injuries in climbers, she'd really like to talk to some folk who've had them - be an interesting project and she might come up with some new conclusions about avoiding them in future
If interested let me know, (email: georgina.brooke@admin.ox.ac.uk )
-g.

Would she want to talk to people in person? Oxford's quite far from where I'm based.

Yup, sounded like tearing a chicken wing apart.

If she is Oxford based then she should go up to the wall at Brookes and talk to the people wearing tape...There are plenty of them and they are friendly enough.........mostly

I have never had one which is weird, really, as I favour crimpy wall climbing (albeit, the kind when your feet are on stuff, thereby reducing the overall load on the fingers) over anything else and never mess around with this "open handed" bullshit.

I'd be interested in knowing whether there is any science to what Probes says. My introduction to climbing proper was at Pex Hill which is not known for its slopers. Having said that I very rarely go anywhere near a campus board and did have occassional trips to the wall between the ages of 8 and 13 for top roping and easy leading - so I'm not sure if my fingers will have been gently conditioned to the rigours of climbing during those important formative years
