That's 6c though. The new problem climbs the other side of the arete. Sounds great:

Quote
Michael's description "The imposing arête of Carrigshouk is one of the finest and most striking lines in Co. Wicklow and has been a long standing project for years.Climbing the rhs of the bulging arête, a dynamic dead point to a slopey edge leads to delicate climbing above with a tricky move to gain the top."

Went to look at this with Michael on a snowy crimbo Chistmas eve. I can confirm it's a stunning 3* line and essentially a 1 (big & v hard) mover with a delicate highball finish. He did it on his own in a blizzard and has some footage but it is truly shoddy. Hope he'll get some nice piccies before the snow melts.

The move is very similar to the arete problem near Piss at Higgar Tor buta  lot harder. RH low on poor undercut, LH on arete feet high and tenuous then a full extension slap to a tiny sloper on the face. He has a few other Wicklow projects that will hopefully go this year.

Nice line!   I think that was one of the first lines I looked at on my first trip to glenmac yonks ago - never got around to cleaning it - probably a good job considering the grade it went at. Nice work Michael.

Andy Rob you definitely dropped the ball the left side of the arete is great, about 6b/6c. Could of added it to your wicklow arete FA list, Michael did well to get it done before the weather really got bad here. Its a beautiful arete, really looms when you walking up to it but funnily not tha visible from the road.

This and Gaskin's Darkness... in Glendasan share the title of Ireland's hardest. It's great that Michael has climbed a hard problem that is such a nice line and really representative of wicklow bouldering being a slopey arete and all.  Darkness is a great line as well but a bit more unusual as its an overhanging face.
