Been put onto this rather funky application by a colleague at my new work place for syncing files between different computers and sharing with friends.

Read all about it at here

Sorry I normally just use something like the following from a terminal....

Code: [Select]
rsync -avz ~/work/something/i/want/at/home/* me@kimura.no-ip.org:~/where/i/want/it/at/home/.

Can't believe I've been wasting my time so much  ::)

I actually suspect that dropbox is using something like rsync in the background but in conjunction with inotify which will detect only the portions of a file that have changed and sync only those bits that have changed.

I have been using Allway Sync, how does it compare to that? Anyone used the two?

Be aware of the cache that dropbox creates of every file you transfer.  Just discovered mine, it was 3GB.

Use this command to reveal location of your box:  %appdata%\Dropbox\cache

Read

Also, Firefox users, investigate DROPFOX which allows one to change the location of the cache amongst other things.
