I think the fact that the grid reference is printed on the pics rather gives them all away.

Bonjoy did say in the first post

Using the co-ordinates to search is definitely cheating, ok!

Yes it's near a folly. It isn't Houndkirk,Carhead or Moorside.

All but twelve, which is a minor Peak venue of the utmost esotericity.

Bugger. In hindsight, a bollcks answer anyway, just the folly bit got me going, along with the road. The only bit of Earl that close to the road is a shite quarry.

looks like it but where's the farm?
also wolf edge may be described as esoteric but its much better than bonjoy is describing it as "utmost esotericity" which must mean its utter, utter shit

Good effort that man, it is that place. Be honest now, did you use the co-ordinates?

Nope - didn't use the coordinates... I've never actually climbed there but have sat there incredibly dehydrated on a long fell run a few years ago and it was etched into my mind.  It was the folly bit that gave it away and the proximity of the road on the picture.

For any Google Earth geeks out there i've got one of the map files that a friend started working on that shows you the locations of crags in the UK, it's not comprehensive, but it's pretty cool.  And no i didn't use it in this quiz - i wouldn't have got so many wrong then!

Ive been looking at it, and not all places seem to have as good a resolution as those that Bonjoy posted. Do I not have the full version or something?

Good quiz though, even though I was useless.

A lot of the more rural areas have quite shite resolution, which is a pitty as it would be brilliant for seeking out potential new esoterica.

There was another update done recently, it might be worth checking for that, as that's what increased the resoulution in the peak and in the leeds/bradhuddersfax region.

It's a shame that almscliff and earl are both just off the edge of the increased resolution area.

I must admit to using this method for searching for stuff out here - our company has got a 600mb file of a recent ortho-rectified aerial photo for the whole of HK. It's still not amazing resolution but sure as hell helps you to target the main areas of interest.
