Pimping an iPhone

Yo mothers.

Anyone any good with sorting issues with an iPhone?

Basically they don't allow you to view vimeo clips as it doesn't have a flash player. This is really annoying but I can't seem to find a solution.

Any helpers?? Slack--line??

Sorry Golt, I've gone with an N95 and have only seen others iPhone's.

One of the reasons for going with this option was the relative "openness" of the Symbian platform in so much as the API was freely available and that meant that anyone could write apps for it (to an extent), and it resulted in far more user generated apps, including YouTube/DivX type applications (amongst other things).

That said, a quick search suggests your not the only one who desires such functionality.

One thing to consider is the development of Adobe's AIR platform/app which is basically a replacement for flash and is/will be platform neutral (looking forward to it myself as it will then mean that I can use iPlayer natively on GNU/Linux). Anyway, the point is, it will likely work on iPhone although your mileage at the moment may vary, and ultimately you will have to wait for Vimeo to switch to AIR.

All in all, not much help really, sorry.

THe Iphone can only play quicktime movies,... it works with Youtube, because youtube will convert from their format to quicktime on the fly (if its not already been done) then you can view it. This explains (I think) why when you look at a youtube vid on an iphone it launches the youtube app...
The BBC iplayer for iphone does the same afaik.

Unfortunately vimeo does not do this  :(

What might (or may not happen) is that Apple upgrade Safari so it can use the flash media players - or someone makes a 3rd party app that does this... have you looked in the App store?

But in the meantime - you do own the the best... (duck)  ;)

Oh well, I guess I will have to put up with one minor drawback to an otherwise perfect phone  ;)
