Peak 7a+/ 7b's
January 17, 2009, 06:54:42 pm
Hi all I'm one of the lucky Southern Sandstone massive that frequent this wee site, I'm hoping to get on the grit if it stays cold & dry. I'm a solid Font 7a climber on sandstone & in Font itself. Done a few on the grit, but I'm keen to get on some 7a+/7b probs. Crimpy or steep/roof stuff is what I'm into no dynos! Thanks in advance...

Early doors vote here. Will stay dry (ish) and is soo satisfying

A true class problem, better than the origional IMHO

I reckon it's better than GW too, as you don't end up practically standing on a huge block at any point.

help the young at plantation is probably my fave 7a+ on grit (that i've done)
the alliance is also damn good, though is neither steep nor crimpy and may now be 7a?

Electrical Storm at Burbage South.

I say it on every one of these 'Best Peak 7a+' lists and hopefully one day someone else will climb it! Its steep, its crimpy and, most importantly, is an awesome line that climbs wickedly!

Razor roof at Cratcliffe is a quality 6c and there is a link up into it that gets 7a+ which is both crimpy and steep.

There's also some stuff over at Robin Hood's Stride, like the cave problems which would also fulfill your criteria. While you're in the area there's also Short Sean's Reachy Roof and the various eliminates on it all around the 7a grade.

Cheers for the pointers so far, have had a look at most of them before so good to know i'm looking at the good stuff. Also whats the skinny on Jerrys Traverse at Cratcliff, worth a bash? Hard? Soft?

Jerry's is really good. steady middling at the grade, but the start often seeps so don't rely solely on it being dry. Have other problems in mind to try. There are loads of good problems there around 7a to 7b
