Where are some good outdoors bouldering spots in Somerset mainly the bath/frome area?

Hi HuHEN

Not sure about bouldering around Bath/Frome in Somerset, though I am aware there is a little bit there.. Not of great quality apparently. Apart from an 8a? roof crack problem that Tom Randall did somewhere??? I'm sure there was a thread on here somewhere about this...?

There is however, plenty of bouldering on the Exmoor coast in Somerset through and just over the boarder into Devon.  Good starting points would be, Bossington (Hurtstone Point) and Lynmouth (Blacklands to Foreland Point).  Explore beyond these spots and you'll discover more.  Most areas a tidal, a knowledge of tides and being wary of getting cut off is important.  A little info. on Bossington can be found here.

Tom's 8a is actually at Bathford Woods, where there is a stack of easier stuff. Is there a new website with details?

Some clues here. Apparently access is OK now.

Thanks for the info. I'm gonna try to get over to Bathford and check out some of those spots if I can figure out where they are. :beer2:

Nice one! Let us know if it's worth a trip (2 hrs ish) from North Devon or if it's really only worth going if you're local??

I personally don't think it's worth it, but keeping it on a backburner in case you are passing by.

granticus - don't make a special trip!!  Worth visiting if you live down the road or are visiting the area, but its not worth a two hour drive...  mail or PM me if you are going and want directions to the different areas

Cheers Ben... Will shout you if I am in the area... Have had a occasion to head up that way for some sport climbing which is probably a better option by the sounds of things.  Some of the problems sound interesting but noone is really selling it to me..

It gets very green in winter though.
