http://www.bigupproductions.com/pilgrimage.html (40megs!!) is the Trailer of the latest Josh Lowell production about Sharma and friends bouldering in Hampi India. It looks great if a little chessy but very polished and stylish.

Also check out http://www.boulderline.com

Also check out http://www.pulldown.ca/ for a trailer of a DVD about bouldeirng in Nova Scotia. Dover Island looks pure class.

Anyone know of any more good new stuff?

Didn't you compile a big list of all the online vids a while back? Might be good to post it if it's still in any way current?

Just watched that Josh Lowell thing. Excellent.

Love the Sadhu waking up and taking a massive hit on his chillum - hope Sharma didn't have any comps lined up soon after!

The boulder scenery is awesome - can't see that place getting climbed out this century. Love  how smoothly that monkey climbs rock.

Sweet.

I knew there were endless bouldering possibilities at Hampi - but not that fucking much. I had to pick my jaw up when I saw that shot pan out on the landscape.

I keep talking about checking that place out when/if I go travelling, all I need to do now is get my arse in gear and get a round the world ticket and make sure I get there!

read a thing in the aussie mag rock about some guys who visited there - they thought it was mediocre, very painfull rough granite using mostly tiny crimps that eat fingers alive - they raved about Bedami though

Thats another place on the agenda as well, the monkeys are supposed to be pretty fierce in Badami by all accounts!

I reckon if you've visited the Bridestones on a cold winters day it should just about prepare you for anything else the world has to throw at you

Title: hampi
Post by: lleyton on November 11, 2003, 01:22:00 pm
yeah hampi loox amazing but the possibilities are fewer than you'd rekon. i was there for a week this summer (too hot tho) and got a bit done. the holds are really savage and loads of rox are literally just blank. doesnt help when you've got dysentry either!! still tho, theres loads of new stuff to do cos of the sheer amount of rox. some of the boulders are sooo massive that they need bolting - which some have. ne1 else been?
Title: good online bouldering videos
Post by: a dense loner on November 11, 2003, 07:07:36 pm
was there for 2 months 2 years ago. went jan - march. best time would be end of oct to the end of jan. there is 400 kms of rock. have not got a clue why u would say there's not as much possibility as u'd think. holds are sharpish crimps, so would be funny to see some of our larger boulderers out there. luckily i got dysentry too, and for a moment i knew how easy climbing actually was if u didn't weigh anything. after an hour i had to lie down for the rest of the day cos i was so weak.

i think the job of cutting classical music into a video such as that is a big task, and i don't think that it was carried out very successfully, and half an hour of classical music is quite a lot!

if the editing was better witht the music it could have been boss..

Yep, would tend to agree - the music doesn't bear any relationship to what's going on in the vid at all - plus, and I hate to sound like I'm whining, it's pretty boring full stop.......

The more bouldering videos I watch, the less interest I have in them.  Unless you know the climbers or problems involved, they're all pretty tedious, with a few notable exceptions (most of which were made by Josh Lowell).  "Krimp" isn't one of those exceptions.  Although, to quote Ludwig van Beethoven, "classical music is proper bo"*.

* I may have made that quote up.

The trousers are bad, but the video is good and the place looks great - never knew Sweden had sandstone.

Of course its granit and not sandstone, but yeah its a "strange" kind of granite.
Anyway the place is called Kjugekull and is one of the best bouldering spots in Europe, some even says its better than Font, but its not.
Lots of info and lots of films from the place can be found here: http://www.kjuge.nu (Hint, Filmer=films, arkiv=archive)

Aye, it's ace.  Spring or Autumn I'd reckon, it was almost cold enough but a little damp on the day for anything hard in the middle of September.  Winter would probably be (literally) Baltic.  Bub um tish.
Title: good online bouldering videos
Post by: steno on December 10, 2003, 02:25:41 pm
You can climb on Kjugekull almost all year around. The best conditions generally occur in September, October, November and February, March, April.  I wouldnt recommend camping this time of the year though...
In the summertime it is often quite hot with not so good conditions (slippery) as an result.

If this is the case, if you never climbed with chalk in first place your hand wouldn't sweat at all
