Title: Using UKB at work - getting past the content filter
Post by: lagerstarfish on November 09, 2007, 09:45:58 am
I'm not sure if I have posted this in the right place.
I used to get a tame administrator at work to tweak my office computer so that I could abuse the internet while banging in tedious stats, but he's left and I haven't managed to flirt my way round his replacement yet - but I have managed to stumble across another way round the problem.
The content filter thing at work (websense?) doesn't like me accessing www.ukbouldering.com because it is apparently a "sport" site (wtf has ukb got to do with sport?)- I am either blocked or have to use a measly 10 mins of "quota time". However, if I go directly to the board page http://ukbouldering.com/board, or any other page within the site, it lets me do whatever I want without any restrictions.
Hope this is of use to someone else.
I am curious as to why this happens and whether it is a deliberate tactic of Bubba's to help us enjoy work more
